Law of Attraction...

I started my lil ol blog in September of 2012. The Company Cricut loved the projects I was making and told me to let them know when I had a blog. I didn't need to be told twice! I started this blog!

I became a blogger affiliate soon after. No I never made any money on this blog,  it was just a place to share my love of crafts and DIY. I was very new to the blogging scene and pretty much had no idea what I was doing.

Ok so where does the law of attraction come in... well it comes in because so far everything I have dreamed of is coming true.

I wanted to make crafts and teach crafts- pretty much did that via Instagram and this blog.
I wanted to be in business and have an online shop- Jossie Posie was born
I wanted to make my own clothing and low and behold here are my Tees.
I wanted to learn calligraphy and I have taken three classes already.
I wanted to learn to sew and I bought a sewing machine.

Do you see my pattern here... I am attracting these things because I am making moves to get me where I want to be.

I have always dreamed of going to a blogger conference. These conferences can come with a price tag close to 800 hundred.  MMM... no I just can't see myself paying that when I could put 800 into my business.

Here's the good part I was invited to attend this creative conference called Re:make that is put on by Brit Morin who is the founder of Brit & co - I was also selected to be in a selective group of bloggers to have to lunch with her! They say she is Silicon Valley Martha Stewart. Yeah pretty Rad right!? In 2013 she raised 6.3 million for her company. What a #girlboss!

Me little ol me! I am super excited and I just want to sit there and soak it all in! The agenda seems packed with a great line up! I will even get to see my main girl crush Founder & CCO of  JEN GOTCH . Yes, this seems all pretty crazy to me. I am still in shock. I would love to grow my business and be able to provide products to the planner and scrapbook community. I just want to create. I have tons of ideas in my head that need to be let out!

My name is Jossie and I'm what you call a #paperchaser

What is a #paperchaser you ask? A girl who only see's pretty paper...

Paper Chaser Tote #DIY

Hi Friends!
Today's DIY is going to be super short and sweet!
I have not used my Cameo in about two months! Let me start off by saying "this machine never disappoints!"
I decorated this tote as a project to submit my work for the DearLizzy design team call. I would love love love to work with her! I really enjoy her child at heart style.  If I could I would wear a tulle skirt on the daily, ohhkay?
This is perfect to store my new Dear Lizzy Documentary items that I recently purchased. So here we go... you ready for my DIY!?
I started off by writing my phrase until I thought it was good enough (remember I'm on a time crunch here) I then took a picture with my iphone.
Here is the picture I took with my iphone. I uploaded it to my Cameo design space.
Once I was in the studio I mirrored this image to the right. Once it was mirrored I traced and cut it on iron-on vinyl.

Once I have my cut iron on vinyl I then ironed it on my tote bag. I placed my iron directly on top of my vinyl.

The key to remember when doing this is to let your iron on vinyl cool down before you peel off the top layer.

Wa- La! You now have an awesome decorated tote with your own phrase!
I am hoping to make more once I get my hands on a heat press. I would love to add these to my shop Jossie Posie .
Peace love & pretty paper!

December Daily with Ashley G. -Woop Woop!

Ok I am so super excited right now... when am I not!?
It's September 3rd and the scrapbooking community is like "December Daily!"

What is December daily you ask..... oh it's a bunch of crafty girls who go ga ga over Christmas Scrapbook kits in September! Ha! Now aren't you glad you found out?

Ok ok I kid a little - check instagram if you don't believe - all crafty women go mad.
I even told the founder  Ali Edwards's  that I loved her!

Yeah- pretty strong words right?

So Last years kit was 99! Pretty high right? I decided this year I was only going to limit myself to one kit. You know I had to go with my girl Ashley Goldberg oh and she included a phrase stamp! You know I'm cu cu for coco puffs!

Feast your eyes on this... This is what I got for a whopping $19.99!
Acrylic ink, a roller phrase stamp and a stamp pad! Yeah baby! I feel like it's definitely Christmas in September!
I love black and white as the main colors. I am hoping to supplement this kit with some of last years Christmas stuff from my own stash.
and there is that phrase stamp! YES YES YES - as my sweet friend Liz said "come to mama!"

So did I convert you into a DD girl over one post? How do you document Christmas if you don't participate in December Daily? I'd love to hear.

I can't wait for December and can't wait to get my hands on this good stuff!

peace, love and pretty paper!

Calligraphy class with Nickki from Amore Paper and Ink

Hi Friends! I had the opportunity to take another calligraphy class. You see... I have fallen in love with pretty writing. I want to write pretty! In fact thats really all I think about. I want to make pretty things with my own hands. I love looking at pretty writing and well I can pretty much spark up a conversation about pens or pretty paper to who ever will listen to me.

Thanks for coming by... let me fill you in on what I have learned so far...

This beautiful set up greeted me. I was so excited!

The wonderful human being that instructed me was Nickki from Amore Paper and Ink
She was so down to earth and so hands on with everyone in the class. I took two other classes before so I had plenty of questions that needed answers. Nickki was that girl. She was sweet,  patient and kind. Here she is...

We started off learning about the nib and it's care. We then went on to learning the strokes and ended up with the alphabet.

The paper presented to us in class was the Luxe edition from Papersource. It was beautiful and thick. This class was amazing. If you ever thought of giving it a try - do it! It's so fun!

The nib we started off was with a Nikko G. It's a great beginner's nib. It glides on the paper.

Here you can see my light box in action... I bought this lightbox at JoAnn's it was a steal once I used my 40% off coupon.  I used the template I was given from class and traced the alphabet.
To learn a new script one must rewrite it and feel it then recreate it.

Here is a close up of my light box. If you can see I then went on in practicing my lower case a's.
I have decided that I want to learn Copperplate Calligraphy Copperplate calligraphy was used on the Declaration of Independence. Now Modern Calligraphy is very beautiful too but I want to learn writing that will never age.

So what do you need to get started you ask?

A nib   Nikko G. $1.55
Tracing template Copperplate template (free)

that's it... these are all pretty basic brands but there are lots more higher end inks, papers and nib holders but these are the basics as you get a feel for calligraphy. Keep in mind use your JoAnn and Michael's coupons to cut corners.

Taking a class does help but you can manage on your own.

*some basics notes... it's ok to lift your nib as you write
-dip your nib in water if you stop writing after two minutes
-thin strokes going up and thick strokes as you come down with your nib
this is not a race - go slow!

No if you are like me, I learn better by watching a live demo.... then here are some up coming classes with this awesome girl...
